Whether slicing up firewood, taking down medium-sized trees, or clearing some land, this 48cc powerhouse has never let me down. If you’re looking to enhance your toolset, a well-kept Stihl 026 is an indispensable companion, be it on a farm or in your backyard.

Back in the 1990s, it’s known as a “mid-range professional saw” – a robust machine designed to make tasks smoother. And while it’s no longer in production, finding one online isn’t a challenge. Plus, if you ever need spare parts, there’s an array of Stihl 026 components waiting for you on Amazon.

The Stihl 026 Specifications

In the table above, you can see how the 026 stacks up against other known Stihl chainsaws. Compared to the Stihl 024 (41cc), it has more power, but not as much as the 036 (61cc) or the 044 (70cc).  The chainsaw power is also higher than the current  Stihl MS180c model.

In terms of material, die-cast magnesium and injection-molded polymer are used to make the Stihl 026.

Husqvarna 460 Rancher

There is a lot you can do with the Husqvarna 460 Rancher 60-cc chainsaw. For fuel, a 20-inch long bar is used. It incorporates a centrifugal air cleaning mechanism to keep dust and other particles from getting into the air filter.

In addition, the chainsaw’s choke and stop levers are both included. Engine flooding is reduced, and these features make starting the machine easier.

Husqvarna 455 Rancher

Husqvarna’s 455 Rancher chainsaw is a viable alternative if you can’t get your hands on the Stihl 026. It weighs just 12.8 pounds yet packs a 3.5-horsepower punch.
