Zero turn mowers offer speed and better results than any other riding mower out there. They can seriously cut down your lawn maintenance time, but only if you choose the right one. Otherwise, you might just be throwing away your hard-earned money.

In this review,  I’ve personally gone through the Husqvarna Mz61 to make your decision-making a lot easier.

What We Like

What We Don’t Like

Design

There is no denying that the Husqvarna MZ61 zero turn mower is quite a looker. When I first laid eyes on the mower, its bright orange body, black details, and sturdy wheels immediately reminded me of a dune buggy. What really caught my attention, though, was the high back seat. It’s far more comfortable than many others I’ve tried, and the inclusion of armrests is a feature not often found on other models.

The heavy-duty steel frame plus the hydraulic system under the hood will give users a mowing experience unlike before. One of the most impressive capabilities of the mower is the Husqvarna MZ61 27 HP Briggs Stratton Engine.

Husqvarna MZ61 Features

Power and Engine

Briggs and Stratton is an excellent motor engine manufacturer and are responsible for developing powerful engines for mowers and other household equipment. The brand even produced the best rear engine riding mowers available in the market.

The 27 HP motor is part of their V-Twin line, which promises to be increasingly efficient and powerful. Their Endurance series power output can propel the mower forward at speeds up to 8.5 mph.

Even in reverse, my Husqvarna MZ61 mower review and testing showed up to 5 mph, which can give some zero turn mowers a run for their money. At these speeds, you can tackle an acre of land in roughly 30 minutes, based on my experience.

Deck

I was genuinely impressed with the deck construction. Crafted from durable fabricated heavy gauge steel, it’s among the most expansive cutting decks I’ve seen on zero turn mowers, akin to the Husqvarna Z242F model. At 61-inches, the deck can work its way over a larger surface and cut the mowing time in half.

Cutting Capacity of Husqvarna MZ61

Due to the size of the cutting deck, the cut capacity of the zero turn lawn mower can reach upwards of 50 inches. The mower deck is very effective against tall grass with a capacity productivity of 4.2 acres per hour if you engage at maximum speed.

Cutting Performance

Due to the deck lift system, the zero turn mower provides a variety of cutting methods for your lawn. The cutting deck can be adjusted up to 4.5 inches so you can either have a nicely trimmed lawn or one that’s almost bare.

I put the mower through its paces at various cut lengths and was really struck by the neatness across all settings. It is comparable to any of topnotch commercial-grade zero turn mowers available in the market.

Maneuverability of Husqvarna MZ61

This Husqvarna zero turn mower review and testing was able to prove that the lawn tool was very easy to maneuver. The zero turn radius allows for the tightest turns, which is personally a standout feature. This lawn mower really delivers when it comes to precision, giving you a neat and tidy lawn. If you’re aiming for a standout yard, this mower can help you achieve that look.

Material and Durability

The steel frame and steel deck of the MZ61 mower adds extra durability to the product. Although rocks, uneven ground and small obstacles are no match for the MZ61, proper maintenance of the mower will still reduce the chances of dealing with common Husqvarna mower problems that opt you to call support and invoke the warranty.

Comfort of Husqvarna MZ61

During Husqvarna MZ61 mower reviews, I was particularly struck by its comfort. For me, a standout feature that differentiates the MZ61 from other zero turn mowers is the built-in armrests. Sure, there are add-on kits for some other models, but having that immediate spot to rest my elbows felt like a real plus.

The seat features a high back and proper cushioning, which will give you more support. The steering levers are padded with non-slip foam for a secure and comfortable grip. The suspension can be improved, like with most other lawn mower options, but the MZ61 does have vibration absorption for a more comfortable ride.

The front 6.5 diameter wheel and 13-inch back tire size will provide much stability during operation on the base machine. The heavy-duty frame is supported by a commercially-rated hydraulic system that will improve your cutting experience. The foot pan is also large and non-slip for maximum control.

One other very convenient feature for comfort is the integrated cup holder. Sometimes mowing time can run a bit long, especially if you have a large piece of land. Having a refreshing drink near the control panel will make driving the 27 HP engine mower a very enjoyable one.

Safety Features of Husqvarna MZ61

Your safety is of the utmost importance, so I took extra care during my Husqvarna MZ61 reviews to assess the safety capabilities. The MZ61 has a pull parking brake for a sudden full stop and an entire safety system in place to avoid any danger when you use a zero turn mower machine

For starters, the mower has a deck type that needs to be disengaged before users can start the engine. It can be a bit time consuming but your safety is priceless. You need a key to start the machine and you need to be sitting in the seat for blade engagement to begin.

Other Features

The mower has a few extra bonuses to take note of. One of the specifics that caught my attention was the 49.4 cubic inch cylinder displacement in its engine. Additionally, the MZ61 boasts a clutch rating of 200 ft/pound, a digital service reminder meter, a nose roller, and it comes with an oil filter. The 5-gallon fuel tank is conveniently located on the side.

Price and Warranty

In my view, the Husqvarna MZ61 offers solid value for its cost given the features it brings to the table. I was particularly pleased with the high back seat that comes with armrests. It saved me the hassle of making an extra purchase.

The wheels are large and heavy-duty, the deck and the entire body of the mower is constructed of reliable and robust steel.

As for the warranty, the product comes with a 3-year residential warranty and a 1-year commercial one. There is also an option for a 4-year warranty or 400 hours, whichever occurs first. I always emphasize the significance of choosing products with a substantial warranty for peace of mind, and the Husqvarna MZ61 certainly delivers on that front.

Husqvarna MZ61 Review Conclusion

In wrapping up my review on the Husqvarna MZ61 mower, a few things stand out. The engine’s power is evident in its performance, and its cutting capability didn’t disappoint. The design isn’t just aesthetically pleasing; it’s comfortable and built to last.

But what truly sets this mower apart as a lawn care specialist are the thoughtfully included safety features and the manufacturer’s confidence reflected in the extended warranty. It’s a purchase one would not regret.
