Features of Both Table Saws

Design

Comparing these table saws side by side, we must say we found them equally sturdy to handle the work. Still, there are some differences.

The Hitachi C10RJ table saw has a convenient fold and roll stand and 8-inch all-terrain rubber wheels. You can set it upright and roll it around easily. For storage purposes, you can fold the Hitachi with the stand and the saw stands up straight. If you have a tight space for storage, the Hitachi C10RJ is a great option.

As for the Dewalt DWE7491RS table saw, it has a rolling stand. It’s fairly easy to move around as well. Although you might need a bigger space to store this one compared to the C10RJ. Still, it’s very solid and professional-looking.

Motor

I’ve noticed that both the Hitachi and Dewalt table saws come equipped with a 15 amp motor, which is a crucial factor for their cutting performance. However, they do diverge when it comes to speed. The Hitachi C10RJ operates at 4,500 RPM, whereas the Dewalt DWE7491RS steps up the game with a robust 4,800 RPM. This discrepancy in speed has a tangible impact on cutting efficiency, giving the Dewalt saw an advantage due to its higher RPM.

We’re impressed with the power of both of these table saws, since they can cut harder woods and not just lumber [1]. So if you need a saw that can work through harder material, either one of them will do the job.

But if you need a motor that can do the job faster and more efficiently, then the Dewalt DWE7491RS is your best bet.

Table Size

One of the things we like about the Hitachi C10RJ is the larger working table. It measures 28 ¾ x 22 inches. And thanks to the telescoping table extension, you get a ripping capacity of 35 inches to the right and 22 inches to the left. This is great for woodworkers who have larger projects, because the Hitachi C10RJ won’t have problems working with bigger wood pieces.

Although the Dewalt DWE7491RS has a smaller working table at 26 x 22 inches, it’s still more than enough for most projects. This one has a smaller rip capacity as well, standing at 32 ½ inch.

There’s a clear difference between the two in the table size aspect, with the larger space belonging to Hitachi. We do have to say though that the fence on the DWE7491RS appears to be more robust. The Dewalt is actually heavier in weight, supporting the fact.

Cutting Capacity

In my evaluation of the Hitachi C10RJ and the Dewalt DWE7491RS, I want to highlight a crucial factor: the blades. The Hitachi C10RJ comes with a 10-inch 40-tooth carbide blade, whereas the Dewalt DWE7491RS is fitted with a 10-inch 24-tooth carbide blade.

While that may make the Hitachi the automatic winner, more teeth don’t necessarily mean better. With more teeth, more heat is generated. This eventually leads to slower cuts. So in this case, Dewalt is the better choice.

Where the Dewalt table saw falls short, however, is the absence of a dado plate. So it’s really something to look forward to with the Hitachi C10RJ which has an 8 x 13/16 inch dado capacity.

The Hitachi C10RJ and the Dewalt DWE7491RS tie in cut depth though. Both have a cut depth of 3 ⅛ inch at 0 degrees, and a maximum cut depth of 2 ¼ inch at 45 degrees.

Dust Collection System

As a woodworker, you know the importance of dust collection in keeping the work table clean. It lessen the clutter without having to extensively use shop vacuums for woodworking often. Each table saw has a dust collection system in place.

Only one dust port is present at the Hitachi C10RJ. This one dust port measures 2 ½ inch, and is found at the rear.

As for the Dewalt DWE7491RS, you’ll find two. The first dust port measures 2 ½ inch and is located under the table. The second dust port is smaller, measuring 1 ½ inch. It’s located above the blade guard, ready to collect debris above the table.

Safety Features

When working with power tools, it’s imperative to prioritize safety and take appropriate precautions. As an expert in the field, I can’t stress enough how crucial it is for woodworkers to prioritize accident prevention in their workplace.

In this aspect, we hand over the winning verdict to the Hitachi C10RJ. It’s equipped with an electric brake to stop blade rotation immediately. The power switch also has an emergency off safety cover to further improve protection.

And while the Dewalt DWE7491RS has the basic safety measures like blade guard assembly, anti-kickback pawl assembly, push stick, and others, a major complaint is the small size of the power button. We expected it to be bigger, as a small power button may be detrimental if you want to stop the saw instantly.

Performance

The performance of Dewalt DWE7491RS compared to the Hitachi C10RJ doesn’t have a big gap, to be honest. They are both great table saws that can handle big jobs excellently.

There are differences in table size, cutting speed, dust ports, and safety measures. But there are similarities too, like the 15 amp motor and cutting depth at 0 to 45 degrees.

The Hitachi undoubtedly has a greater capacity, but some users report that the miter gauge may fall out — an issue that’s not present with the Dewalt table saw.

Still, each one of them is a solid table saw that will do the job.

Conclusion: Hitachi C10RJ OR Dewalt DWE7491RS

In the table saw battle between Hitachi C10RJ vs Dewalt DWE7491RS, it still depends on your preferences.

The Hitachi C10RJ would be best for craftsmen who want to try out different materials. It’s simple to use and has versatile features.

On the other hand, professionals and specialists may want to lean over to the Dewalt DWE7491RS. This saw has a solid structure for tough jobs, and can handle almost anything you throw its way.
